A photograph taken during WW1 from Mike Harwood.
A very interesting photo. There about 9 men in uniform but from different regiments; there is a young chap wearing a Glengarry and a couple, I think wearing Tam-O-Shanters- Scottish regiments. You can just make out that a couple of men have officers' pips on their shoulders.
The game they are playing seems very short; the boys, who are wearing Ammo boots, are carefully standing on mats. I wonder if they moved around much?
There is huge turnout of club members, wives and mothers. What was the meeting? Welcome home to the boys? I would be very interested to know.

Have done a bit of searching and  I have found a Postcard[online] with a photo on the front which was obviously taken on the same day as the above; It involves fewer  people and is not posed. The postcard has been sent to a lady in Stoke-Under- Ham by the photographer F G Christopher, a well known photographer based in Crewkerne, Any bells ringing Crewkerners?

SOMERSET LEAGUE MATCH ON 6TH AUGUST IS A HOME MATCH
Some confusion generated around our Somerset C, League match, V Ilminster C, on 6th. Aug. The Association website is still showing this as an away [PLAYING AT ILMINSTER] but there has been an inter club arrangement to play at home [ie at CREWKERNE]
